Nabeel El-amir, MD, FACS, has been named chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery for the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS).
Dr. El-amir brings with him extensive experience working in Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery. Prior to joining MVHS, he worked as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Sparrow Medical Group in Lansing, Michigan.
Having more than 30 years of diverse experience, especially in cardiac surgery, he had been affiliated with many hospitals including Mercy Health Partners of Muskegon, Michigan, University of Michigan Health System of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Sparrow Medical Group of Lansing, Michigan. Before joining the health systems in Michigan, Dr. El-amir was a cardiothoracic surgeon at MVHS for 12 years.
Dr. El-amir attended and graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He completed his residency and fellowship in esophageal surgery at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and completed his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in Manhattan, New York.
